Approximately a Half of the World Uses iPhones


iphone-3gsIt was estimates by Apple’s iPhone that about 50 per cent of customers use smartphone all over the world. But Android is catching it up.

Not so long ago Google purchased the latest traffic figures (PDF) from AdMob.

One should say that the usage of smartphone is growing rapidly. According to the reports made by AdMob’s Mobile Metric, the number of worldwide smartphone usage doubled from 22 per cent of handsets to 44 per cent.

The operating system played a great role in smoartphones. According to AdMob’s data, Symbian-based smartphones took the leading position in the market. But then the iPhone and other competitors beat the Symbian OS.

Two data series were distinguished by AdMob’s analysis, i.e. Palm’s offerings went down till webOS was released on the Prē earlier this year. And the second one is the quick accent of Android. One should say that Android phones take the third position after Apple and Symbian.

According to AdMob, the released RIM Tour and new versions of the Curve (8900 and 8520) are “gaining traction.”

The BlackBerries that AdMob recommend users to pay their attention towards keyboard-equipped but not iPhone imitators such as the less-successful Storm that holds a 12 per cent share of the worldwide BlackBerry market. As for BlackBerry, its 8300 Curve collected 45 per cent of the RIM share for the past six months.

In order to get into the smartphone market one should have steel nerves as well as deep pockets.
