Apple Gets Benefits Due to the Lawsuit against HTC

March 12th, 2010 Sidhrath Surana No comments

According to Yair Reiner, Apple is deriving the benefits due to patent infringement lawsuit against HTC. Apple’s lawsuit accompanied with high-level discussions influenced on top-tier smartphone makers’ decision. Handset manufacturers are also not sure about using Google’s Android operating system as an easy as well as cheap way to rival with the iPhone.

Apple Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook sent relentless warning in January 2009 which says the following: “we will not stand for having our IP ripped off and we’ll use whatever weapons we have at our disposal.” The words were related to multi-touch, may be for that reason, we cannot see a lot of handsets that are based on the technology, one can only notice it on the Palm Pre, the Droid Eris and Google’s Nexus One. As a result threats of apple were ignored by HTC.

In fact, there are annalists that suppose the lawsuit against HTC as well as the new discussions with phone manufacturers is regarded as a proxy war against Android and Google.

Despite the fact Apple can win against the HTC, the handset manufacturers can look for shelter with Windows Phone 7 Series and Microsoft which got the opportunity to offer the strength of its own IP portfolio to handset manufacturers.

But it is hard to say whether Microsoft with its WinPho7 is able to back its mobile groove. But still there are ways for Android-based phones to succeed in the Apple vs. HTC lawsuit.
