Domain Name Is Available in Indian Languages


It became known that Domain Name that is currently only with Latin characters will soon be available in Indian languages in India by June 2010

Such domain offers a unique identity and when you click on a given domain name, the webpage of some particular website opens.

International Domain Names (IDN) gives a possibility to get Domain Names in local languages. But recently one could get Domain Names only in Latin characters, for that reason it was not possible to have Domain Name in an Indian language.

The Government of India confirmed that a user were able to have Domain Name in an Indian language, moreover, it would be possible to type and access the C-DAC site.

According to the C-DAC spokesman, a lot of problems should be discussed. There is the difficulty of Indian writing systems, one should provide various securities in order the common man is able to feel secure from phishing and spoofing attacks. The main areas of IDN are the following: the syllabic structure of Indian languages, Variant Tables and restriction rules.

A series of National Workshops on IDN started with the first workshop in Pune. The same work will be conducted at major centers such as Kolkata and Punjab in December 2009 and January 2010 that is targeted at providing a platform to all major players.
