Sistema Shyam Teleservices Is Adding its Voice Service to the Internet
The telecom company known as Sistema Shyam Teleservices is thinking to add its voice service to the internet. The company works with CDMA telecom services under the MTS brand, Sistema Shyam Teleservices wants to provide mobile broadband services on cellphones as well as a host of services around it.
In order to fulfill its plan, the company signed a contract with RailTel, Reliance Communications and Tata Teleservices. It means that the contract will give an opportunity for SSTL to rent internet bandwidth.
Also it is scheduled by the company to unveil a variety of co-branded high-end mobile phones as well as smartphones together with well known manufacturers like Samsung, Fly, ZTE and Huawei that will have high-speed internet access.
SSTL is already testing its broadband service on mobile phones. It will have a speed up to 3.1 mbps.
The company has 2.5 million subscribers across India. SSTL has also talks with the major Canadian company, Research in Motion, to launch BlackBerry services.
“We are configuring our services for BlackBerry. This should be commercially rolled out by March 2010. In fact, BlackBerry services are also part of our strategy to integrate voice and internet,” Mr Joshi said.
