“Unfriend” Will Be Used in Books

new-oxford-american-dictionaryThe word “unfriend” became the 2009 Word of the Year, which means to remove someone from you friends’ list. The word was selected by the OUP, publisher of the New Oxford American Dictionary because it was considered to be new and clear enough.

The word became the first leaving aside “hashtag,” “netbook” “freemium,” “birther” and “tramp stamp.”

Unfriending is not considered to be the only option for an overloaded friends list, it is possible to use Facebook’s “Hide” option in order to blockade a special friend’s status updates from displaying in your News Feed. A user is able to arrange settings so that a blocked person could not see your updates, the only thing that is left is the faintest thread of e-friendship between two people.

The option “Hiding” does not impart the way a user is going to block the other person from his updates.
