Who Is Going to Deal with Nvidia: AMD or the FTC?
Probably Intel finished its legal fights with Advanced Micro Devices, but federal antitrust authorities extended their of the chip giant’s business practices and decided to have a deal with graphics chip maker Nvidia
Representatives of Nvidia had talks with the Federal Trade Commission concerning Intel.
One should say that the companies want to manufacture x86-compatible products, with Intel and Sunnyvale, Calif.-based AMD extending their agreement for another five years.
According to an Intel legal spokesman, the company had discussions with FTC representatives after AMD settlement but would not give any comments whether Nvidia came up in those talks.
“There’s an ongoing investigation at the FTC. We’ve been pretty open that we’ve been talking to them since the AMD settlement and that we answer any questions that come up,” said Intel’s Chuck Mulloy.
As for the FTC did not comment on its inquiry of Intel but there is a possibility that it will prepare to state its findings in public.
But at the same time Nvidia did not ask Intel to pay for anti-competitive practices in any global venue but the graphics chip producer involve an ongoing legal dispute with Intel over Nvidia’s license to sell motherboard chipsets for Intel’s latest-generation microprocessors.
